Family Favorites

My mom would make this all the time for us growing up. I can certainly say I basically make Easy Ground Turkey Tacos with my eyes closed. We loved to add a drizzle of ranch on top. I know what you may be thinking, ummm ranch? It will take this homemade tacos to a whole new dimension.

Saying this is a recipe loved by all is an understatement. When my husband first tasted this recipe, it immediately became a frequently requested dish. I can’t wait to hear how it will soon become your family’s favorite.

Star of the Show Ingredient

The ingredient that you cannot substitute is El Pato Tomato sauce. You can buy it from your local grocery or next Walmart trip. If you prefer a lot of spice, I would suggest buying 2 cans as they are not very big. The recipe calls for using about half of the can in the ground turkey and the remaining as a sauce to drizzle on top.

Other ingredients you’ll need:

  • Tortillas (Corn, flour or premade hard taco shells)
  • Ground Turkey
  • Spices: Cumin, Oregano, Onion Powder, Garlic Powder, Chili Powder, Paprika, Salt and Pepper
  • Lettuce
  • Cheese
  • Additional Toppings: Pico de Gallo, Avocado, Sour Cream

Great Ideas for Leftovers

Easy Ground Turkey Tacos are definitely crave worthy, however, this ground turkey can be used in numerous meal options. A few great ideas for leftovers, include family nacho night. On a baking sheet spread a hefty amount of tortilla chips, and cover them with the ground turkey and all the toppings you can think of. Heat up the filled baking sheet in the oven for a few minutes just enough for all the cheese to be melted.

A better carb reducing meal would be to replace the tortilla chips with lettuce and now you have a delicious salad.

Trick to Avoiding Dry Meat

Turkey can be tricky and some complain it’s too dry. If you are someone who feels that frustration, try a less lean percentage. I would suggest to keep it around 90-95% lean. Say good-bye to dry meat and hello to mouthwatering Easy Ground Turkey Tacos.
