Ingredients

  • DONUT INGREDIENTS
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/4 tsp allspice
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp baking powder, divided
  • 1/4 cup of unsweetened apple sauce
  • 1/4 cup coconut sugar
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • ICING
  • 1 cup confectioner's powdered sugar
  • 3 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 3 tbsp unsweetened almond milk (start with 2 tbsp)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F and spray the donut pan with non-stick spray

In a large bowl, mix together the applesauce and 1 tsp of baking powder (this will be your egg substitute) and set aside

In a medium bowl, whisk together dry donut ingredients: flour, spices, baking powder and salt

Add coconut sugar into the large bowl with applesauce mixture, mix well

Mix in pumpkin puree, maple syrup and vanilla

Add approximately half of your flour mixture and half of your milk, mix until just combined. Add the remaining flour and milk and mix until just combined. Your donut batter should be slightly firm

Bake for 14-16 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean and is baked through. Once cool enough to touch, remove from pan and place on wire cooling rack.

In a medium mixing bowl, beat together confectioner's sugar, cocoa, cinnamon and milk. Go slow to avoid sugar flying everywhere. Add additional milk if needed for a perfect dipping glaze consistency

Once donuts have cooled, dip the baked donuts into the cinnamon chocolate glaze
